Kruse Family Barn

Tucked away and hidden in the heart of the busy Kruse Way Financial District, surrounded by towering office buildings of brick and glass, the remains of the Kruse family farm sit at the intersection of Carman Drive, between Meadows Drive and Kruse Way, in Lake Oswego.

Years ago when Mr. Kruse was still alive, while on my daily walks, I would pass the Kruse farm. Mr. Kruse was always out plowing his field sitting atop his rusty old tractor. When he would see me, he’d stop and give me a squash, a tomato or at the very least some flowers. I’d ask him when he was going to get a new tractor and his comment was always that his tractor was “more reliable than some women he knew”.
