Walmart Comes To Lake Oswego.allaboutlakeoswegolivingaphotoblog.com

Walmart Comes To Lake Oswego

I’ve been wanting to drive over to see the progress at the building Walmart is supposedly moving into. It’s the former New Seasons grocery store that moved over to Bridgeport Village instead. I drove over there yesterday and see they have cleaned up the spot but I didn’t see a lot, or rather, any construction.

That I am sure will change.  I will post other pictures as I see the building take shape since I pass by there everyday.  I’ve been meaning to stop and take a picture and of course yesterday was a cloudy, rainy day.

Once a thriving farm and the owners of where Kruse Way in Lake Oswego sits now, this will one day be torn down soon to make way for offices and other development.

Lake Oswego Library.

I was out and about the other day and realized I didn’t have a picture of our award-winning Lake Oswego Library.  The sun was out so I rushed over to take advantage of a beautiful day.

I also wanted to take a picture of our Library because it’s currently under review to be replaced.  Our City officials will reach a decision by September of this year whether to build another building at a new location with a garage, retail and housing additions.

The Foundry At Oswego Pointe.allaboutlakeoswegolivingaphotoblog.com

The Foundry At Oswego Pointe.

Last summer while walking at Roehr Park, I noticed this building had lots of construction and work being done to it.  At that time, I didn’t know what it was or would be.

The Foundry at Oswego Pointe is situated between Foothills Park and Roehr Park at Oswego Pointe along the Willamette River in Lake Oswego.  It is a new event venue that will have 3 grand openings during the week of March 7.

It had been the Ram Restaurant and Brewing Co. at one time and a place I went to often.  There was a balcony overlooking the river which made summer dining extremely pleasant. However, what’s more significant is that it is situated on the original site of the historic Oregon Iron and Steel Company built in the 1870s.

This new venue will accommodate up to 700 for events such as weddings, conventions, company meetings, etc.   It also has a private deck, promenade and garden patio along the Willamette River.

Hansel And Gretel Cottage.allaboutlakeoswegolivingaphotoblog.com

Hansel And Gretel Cottage

When I saw this small building in Lake Oswego, it reminded me of a fairy-tale Hansel and Gretel Cottage. It isn’t for sale nor do I know who owns it. In fact, it sits behind a retail business so it may not be an owner-occupied house at all, but a storage shed of sorts. Regardless, I thought it was charming. Downsizing anyone?

Centerpointe.allaboutlakeoswegolivngaphotoblog.com

Centerpointe

Located at the furthest western boundary of Lake Oswego is Centerpointe. Another prime business center situation at the intersection of Interstate Highway 5 and Kruse Way. A complex of brick buildings that also includes some fabulous restaurants, services, coffee shops, ice cream shop and a multitude of other business including large corporations.

The surrounding area of Centerpointe includes plenty of walking trails and benches. The monument that is shown in this picture is always filled with the most beautiful flowers that are changed regularly. It is also within walking distance of the Westlake neighborhood.

Lake Oswego Indoor Tennis Center.allaboutlakeoswegolivingaphotoblog.com

Lake Oswego Indoor Tennis Center

Part of Lake Oswego’s Department of Recreation and Parks, this is an indoor tennis center built in the 1970s. The day I was there they were in-between classes. When I arrived, a large group of young adults was leaving and, when I left, a younger crowd was about to start with their lessons.

The tennis center offers four lighted tennis courts and are available for junior and adult classes, men’s and women’s league play, special events and open court reservations.

This indoor center is currently located in the Lake Grove area at 2900 Diane Drive, Lake Oswego. However, there is a new tennis center being proposed near the site of Luscher Farm.

Naomis Lamps and Lampshades In Lake Oswego.allaboutlakeoswegolivingaphotoblog.com

Naomi’s Lamps and Lampshades.

Naomi’s is a lamp and lampshade retail store. A lamp can literally be made from anything. I once had a mirror made into a lamp there. Sounds perhaps odd, but it turned out great. I’ve also purchased many lampshades in the store and have been going to Naomi’s forever it seems. Recently I purchased a vintage etched glass lamp that needs rewiring and, of course, a lampshade, so I will be going back to the store soon.

Since 1942, Naomi’s knowledgeable and experienced staff have provided a delightful experience for customers. How does Naomi’s define “delightful experience”?

Delightful Experience

di-’lit-fel ik-’spir-e-en(t)s n 1. A large inventory of lampshades, lamps and parts that offer customers complete solutions; 2. Knowledgeable and friendly staff to answer most aesthetic or technical questions a customer might have; 3. An environment of design and creativity; 4. A focus on customer satisfaction with the approach, the proposed solution and the end result.

Just walking around the store is an amazing experience. Filled to the brim with all kinds of lamps, etc. that you will love and will just have to buy to take home.

Lake Oswego Kruse Oaks Corporate Park.allaboutlakeoswegolivingaphotoblog.com

Lake Oswego Kruse Oaks Corporate Park

The trees are all long gone but this area was once completely forested and a part of the original land claim of the pioneer Kruse family.

During the peak of the housing market, Kruse Oaks was referred to as the financial center of Lake Oswego and dubbed mortgage row.

Shown in this picture are only three of approximately 16 brick and glass buildings all conveniently located on Meadows Drive within a block of the Kruse Way and I-5 arterial, providing easy access to downtown Portland and/or Salem.  A popular and desired commercial hub in the suburbs of Portland. My office will be relocating to one of these buildings in Fall 2010.

Lake Oswego Lakewood Center For The Arts.allaboutlakeoswegolivingaphotoblog.comLake Oswego Lakewood Center For The Arts

Located at 368 S. State St., Lake Oswego.  The Lakewood Theater Company began in November 1952 when a group of residents decided the community was not complete without a theater. When the former Lakewood School became available in 1979, the Theater Company decided to expand and become the Lakewood Center for the Arts.

Today the center is home to live shows, classes for all ages, a community arts preschool and the annual Festival of Arts which attracts 22-25,000 each year.
