Lake Oswego Public Golf Course

The Lake Oswego Golf Course is a City owned 18-hole Par-3 facility with holes ranging from 74-179 yards. The hillside layout offers beautifully kept, small, contoured greens with Lost Dog Creek passing among fir, cedar, and maple trees through the back nine.

Challenges await better players while the short yardage provides a perfect learning environment for beginner and intermediate golfers.

Lake Oswego Country Club

Paul C. Murphy was instrumental in building and developing the private Oswego Lake Country Club in 1924. It covered 155 acres, with an attractive club building and sweeps of fairway covering the tracks and paths of the iron operation.

Mr. Murphy’s real estate career started in Portland in 1909 and he was President of the Portland Realty Board in 1918.  His business was located in what is now known as the Lake Oswego Heritage House.  The golf course was laid out by H. Chandler Egan and constructed by William H. Tucker and Sons of New York.

The club house offers an array of excellent wines and food and many community events are held in its spacious dining room through the year.  I recently attended a Fashion Show there.  A pool is also open to members during summer months.

On April Fool’s, I had the front door to the Lake Oswego Country Club posted.  It was Door #1 under my “Lake Oswego Doors” category.
