Fall At Oak Creek.allaboutlakeoswegolivingaphotoblog.com

Fall At Oak Creek

This tree stopped me in my tracks the other evening, driving down Kingsgate. It is close to Oak Creek Elementary School in the Westlake neighborhood of Lake Oswego. It looks like it’s on fire!

Westlake Flags and Flowers

A sight you’ll see around Westlake are the beautiful flower baskets of Lake Oswego and U.S. Flags on almost every light pole.

Zen In Westlake.allaboutlakeoswegolivingaphotoblog.com

Zen in Westlake

I love rocks and in fact collect some on occasion so I was drawn to this grouping of rocks piled on the larger rock. Coming home last night, I noticed they were no longer there.  I don’t know whether they had been placed like that initially by another walker or the gardeners that maintain this stretch of common area in Westlake.

Puffs Of Pink Along Westlake Drive

This is a road I travel probably a million times a day.  I get to view these beautiful trees on my route to work and decided to share them with you too!

The weatherman said we’ve had our third warmest January-February ever on record…but the trees and flowers already knew that and are showing their faces.

A Short Cut In Westlake.allaboutlakeoswegolivingaphotoblog.com

A Short Cut In Westlake

There’s a short cut through my neighborhood to Westlake Park.  Not everyone knows about it but it isn’t really a secret either.  It makes my walk more fun as it crosses over the wetlands.  Sometimes you see different kinds of wildlife as you cross the bridge on your way to play at Westlake Park.

Out And About In Westlake.allaboutlakeoswegolivingaphotoblog.com

Out and About In Westlake

My first picture of 2010 and first day of committing to New Year’s Resolutions.  One of my resolutions is to get back to walking.  Westlake is perfect for that as we have lots of walking paths, wetlands and green spaces in my own neighborhood.

This first Saturday of the New Year, I went walking and caught this just blocks from my house.  I don’t know where this water comes from other than perhaps Mt. Park which sits above Westlake.

Another resolution is to take my camera with me whenever I go out…something I forget to do and have missed many great shots.  The first Saturday of 2010 in Westlake was a beautiful day to do just that.

A Place To Rest In Westlake.allaboutlakeoswegolivingaphotoblog.com

A Place To Rest In Westlake

Now that all the holidays are over, shopping is done, presents are unwrapped, and we’re heading into the New Year, perhaps you need a place to rest in Westlake.  Besides, today is Sunday and the day to rest.

This pergola (or gazebo, pavillion?) sits in Westlake Village, a small complex within the Westlake neighborhood.  Immediately behind the pergola is a greenbelt.  Westlake has lots of greenbelts and wetlands which can’t be built on so as to preserve open space. In addition, you always see people out walking on the trails throughout Westlake all the way up into Mountain Park.

Westlake Village has a gift store, dry cleaners, tanning salon, office suites & businesses, pizza parlour, coffee shop and small grocery store.  It sits on the corner of Westlake and Parkview Drives in Lake Oswego, and is within a block of my house making it convenient for me.

I’ve tried to take photos of the shops but since this isn’t a strip mall-type of stores, but rather a quadrant, it has been hard for me to take pictures of the entire complex.  This is an extremely popular neighborhood and area with lots of amenities.

It seems that every time I see benches, no one is sitting on them.  In fact there are more benches and seating in this area and all around Westlake, but I never see them being used.  At least they are there…
